FOUNDATION
DESCRIPTION
The Omicron Xi Lambda Educational Foundation is a community service organization that is dedicated to providing programs and services of a charitable and educational nature to promote the development of the Grandview, Missouri community and the Greater Kansas City area.
Significant efforts that the foundation does annually:
In March of 2008, one of our chapter brothers, Mr. Brandon Charles Fauntleroy-McDowel was violently murdered in downtown Kansas City, Missouri as a result of a carjacking. At the time of his demise, Brother Fauntleroy-McDowel served as the Vice President of the Omicron Xi Lambda Chapter and was only days away from beginning a career at the Wyandotte Outreach Center as a Case Manager in Kansas City, Kansas. Additionally, he was preparing to receive his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Avila University and was looking forward to attending the University of Missouri -Kansas City’s School of Law beginning in the fall of 2008. Brandon was an Alpha brother who devoted his life to service, outreach, and scholarship.
Our chapter has since honored the memory of Bro. Fauntleroy-McDowel’s life and aims through our annual scholarship luncheon held in his name to present deserving high school senior males with scholarships as they plan to pursue a higher education.
Brandon C. Fauntleroy-McDowel Scholarship
The scholarship fund was established to assist graduating high school male seniors with the costs associated with attending a higher educational institution. This scholarship fund is an effort of the Omicron Xi Lambda Educational Foundation. It has been named in honor and memory of Brother Brandon C. Fauntleroy-McDowel, an Omicron Xi Lambda chapter initiate who dedicated his life to serving the Greater Kansas City community. Funds may be used for tuition, books or other course related materials.
